Cystectomy and urinary deviation

Treatment area

Usually used for invasive bladder cancer.


Bricker deviation is used for individuals over 70 years of age. Men under 70 are offered Studer's bladder substitute. The department does not perform this operation in women. Women under 70 are offered a continent deviation according to Kock. 


 Invasive bladder cancer. Recurrent gynecological cancers in selected cases. Urinary deviation without cystectomy for benign incontinence.


All patients are admitted the day before surgery. Length of stay is about 2 weeks. Sick leave from work depends on factors such as type of work and progress of healing, but is usually around 3-6 months.
