Diagnostic methods

The department uses modern equipment for diagnosis of eye diseases. A digital method is used for photography during fluorescence angiography, ICG, and diabetes screening, with black and white images and color images of fundus. We use digital photography of the anterior segment and the cornea in a slit lamp camera.

OCT examination is carried out for macula and glaucoma diagnosis. Ultrasound is used in cases where the fundus cannot be otherwise inspected, for example when there is bleeding in the vitreous body. Orbscan, a system which measures the curvature of the cornea, is used as a diagnostic tool for corneal transplantation.

Visual acuity is measured according to ETDRS for all macular diseases.
